During an organised dive the responsibility for the dive will rest with the Dive Marshall who will be delegated by the Diving Officer. If the Dive Marshall is diving, then responsibility will be handed to the Deputy Dive Marshall (also nominated by the Diving Officer). The Dive Marshall will make all decisions regarding dive sites, timings and whether diving is to be aborted.

The Dive Marshall will also nominate the ‘buddy pairs’ in instances where inexperienced divers are among the dive group. Dive Leaders and Sports Divers will assist the Diving Officer or Dive Marshall where required in supervising less qualified divers.

All incidents or near misses will be reported to the Diving Officer on completion or during the dive, if it warrants.
