Main Committee Message

The Club. It has played a very important part in my life. In the initial years when I started working in PDO, I enjoyed the club and all the social and sports activities it offered. Back in 1983, this was The Place to be.

From the time I got married and had a family, the club was again the central point. It provided endless joy to my family. It is indeed: a place where families can come and enjoy the facilities in a safe environment.

I have served the club as general secretary and then lately as the president. It was an honour to serve the club and the membership during these two very different roles. During my time, the main committee has tried to improve the experience of the members contribute to the enjoyment of the members. The focus of these improvements was to facilitate the workings between the sections and the front office also to facilitate the members with the transactions within the club. Also streamlining the statues and governance to provide a clear way forward in dealings in the club.

The club after the summer period has started to see increase in activities. These were mentioned in the last month's newsletter. Activities and events will continue till the cooler months into the next year.

The events are organised by the sections with support of the front office. Some of the events are organised by the front office. Overall, the front office plays a vital role in making sure that the club offers the best environment for the members to enjoy.

As president this is my final newsletter and I would like to say goodbye and say thank you to the present and the past main committee members who have worked with me and together have been able to provide a place for the members to enjoy the club in a safe and friendly environment. All the sections, who are volunteers, who have organised such wonderful events for all to enjoy. It starts with excitement, apprehension, tension, anger, frustrations. However, the end is very rewarding after a successful event. All the laughter and smiles at the end says it was worth it. Thank you very much; the club would not be what it is today if this was not for all of you. I would like to thank the front office staff who have whole-heartedly supported me as president and the main committee in achieving the environment that it is. The club security staff and the support staff of SSS and there team from PDO UIC department have helped the club and the members the security to enjoy the activities and events in a safe environment.

I will continue to play a role in the club focusing mainly in an advisory role in the redevelopment of the club.

On behalf of the Main Committee,
Khalid Jawad Al Khabouri
President
