MAIN COMMITTEE MESSAGE
Hello everyone,
I am Amroo Al Hinai and have been nominated as the UIR Ras Al Hamrah redevelopment and club liaison member of the main committee.
Usually during summer time many club members take their annual vacations to travel outside Oman. This period is a low season period of the club. However, the Main Club Committee sees this as a busy time for them as this is the least period where we can carry out the disturbing activities of the redevelopment of the Club. We have been focusing our efforts to keep down these disturbances to the minimum. The construction phasing is a major consideration as the club will need to remain functional throughout its construction period.
Early Works
Due to site topography and land availability, the new club will be situated in the same footprint of the existing building. The existing building is very old and will have to be demolished prior to the commencement of new building’s construction and in order for us maintain the operation of the club we have introduced the “Early Works stage” were we will provide a temporary club facility that will host most of the functions that are required for club operation during the construction period. This new club facility will be located behind the restaurant and would impose a new club entry and site security; which we are also working on. Early Works Contract has been awarded; land clearing, compaction and foundations has already been progressed at site and the planned completion date is in September 2019.
A new mini Olympic sized swimming pool (15mX24m) and a toddlers pool (9m X10m) is also planned to be constructed in the area where the gym is located. The existing gym parking will be affected but the overall number of parking lots will be maintained. The new pool is currently at commercial evaluation stage and the award is scheduled on May 2019.
