Main Committee Message

Dear members,

The new season has kicked off and we enthusiastically welcome back everyone from their holidays! Though the summer is often a time of goodbyes, September is also full of hello’s so we would like to express a warm welcome to all new families arriving in Muscat.

Let me take a small moment of your time to introduce myself. My name is Simone, I am the new Sports Secretary for the RAHRC having taking over from Paul Sanders since May 2019. In January 2018, I moved to Muscat together with my husband, ready to embark on some new adventures in this beautiful country! As a Dutch national, outdoor and indoor activities have always been central in my life and I am continuously curious to engage in new sportive events. My role at RAHRC entails supporting all 23 sports sections of the Club, promoting their activities and ensuring they can safely pursue their sports. I look forward to working together with you all, learning from your expertise and being able to continue to offer a wide variety of sports, motivating everyone around us to pursue a healthy athletic lifestyle.

Rugby Section(PDO Pirates Rugby Club)

The rugby section has been steadily growing in numbers over the past 12 months; we are regularly getting between 15 to 25 players coming along to our Monday and Wednesday night training sessions. The training sessions involve a light warm-up then a game of touch rugby with our very own “Pirates rules” which are focused on keeping the game fun. The rugby club is very much a social group and prides itself on not taking things too seriously but also ensuring that players have the opportunity to develop their rugby skills. We are a diverse group with players coming from over 15 different countries both male and female.

The rugby section is about to start training for the Dubai Rugby 7’s tournament which is going to be held in the UAE this December. The Pirates will be playing full contact rugby in the Invitational League alongside the best international teams.

If you are interested to join the club then please come along to our training sessions, we train Monday nights (18:00 – 19:00) and Wednesday nights (17:30 – 19:00) at the old school pitch which is located next the golf course driving range.

All are welcome !

RAHGC’s calendar keeps getting busier, and September was no exception and we are yet to enter the peak season: Committee Walk-In; Mistal Monthly Medal and Musco Lighting Stableford. Cherry on the cake is increased participation for each event.

Annual Ras Al Sifah is coming up on the 27-28 September.

Committee Walk-In:
Friday, the 13th was not so unlucky. We welcomed our new Golf Committee with the Committee Walk In. We had a full field of 24 teams competing in the event. The team of Hamoud Al Shaqsy and Atulya Sharma had an outstanding day scoring 52 points to win the event. There was a countback to determine second place as Lee Johnson and John Bryce beat Mark Mitchell and Keith Park 24 points to 23 points.
